SLIIT holds first-ever Virtual Open Day Engaging Students towards exciting Degree Pathways
View(s):SLIIT held its first-ever Virtual Open Day on 15th of November 2020 designed to provide an insight to parents and prospective students about to vast opportunities available at the institute for students to broaden education prospects aligned to their future goals.
Due to the world and Sri Lanka facing unprecedented times, and understanding to need follow all safety and health guidelines, the SLIIT Virtual Open Day was organised through a virtual arena ensuring participants remain safe yet at the same time discover the unique community and excellent education SLIIT offers.
SLIIT’s conducted its first ever Virtual Open Day throughout two active sessions with the participation and contribution of five faculties, showcasing 36 specializations, steering over 108 question and answers sessions and over 150+ staff members in attendance.
During this event, which washeld via Zoom, Youtube and Facebook, participants discovered SLIIT’s commitment to excellence in education.A series of scheduled live sessions, online talks and Q&A’s especially designed to engage students in their areas of interest and explain the programmes available was conducted. Deans of the various faculties, Heads of other departments and Lecturers also provided important information regarding the degrees and programmes.
Prospective students were also able to explore the world class facilities and experience campus life through an interesting virtual tour. The Virtual Open Day was also an ideal platform for students presently in the process of registering for SLIIT’smain intake to understand the prospects that await them.
Commenting on the first-evervirtual Open Day, Uditha Gamage, Director, Development and Engineering Services, SLIIT said, “Due to the current Covid-19 situation facing the country, our Virtual Open Day this year provided an excellent way to convey the excitement and engagement of student life at SLIIT.
The online sessions showcased the high levels of teaching and support offered at SLIIT and the vast future opportunities that await prospective students who begin their higher education journey at our world-class institute.”
Ensuring a personalised and highly supportive learning environment, detailed information on SLIIT’s undergraduate degrees such as Computing, Business, Engineering, Education, Science, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Biotechnology, Psychology, Nursing, Law, Hospitality and Cookery and Event Management was provided.
“We have reinvented our Open Day to ensure we provide invaluable information to our new students. We aim to support prospective students joining SLIIT, to navigate the new terrain, to grow, discover new knowledge and skills and to pursue their higher education contributing positively to their communities and globally,” added Roshani Madarasinghe, Head, Marketing Department, SLIIT.
