Green and Smart Girls’ school for Central Province
The “Green and Smart School” concept is to be introduced in the Central Province by Central Province Governor Lalith U.Gamage, with the cooperation of the Central Province Education Department.
A foundation stone was laid at Rajawella in Digana for a “Green and Smart” Girls’ school, and Mass Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Kandy District Coordinating Chairman Vasantha Yapa Bandara did the honours.
As the first phase The first students from grade six to grade 11 are to be be enrolled in 2022, .
According to the Governor Lalith U. Gamage this school would ease the competition for admission to grade six and grade 11 classes, in many Central Province schools.
“This is the first step for this project and many more facilities will be introduced when the school is ready for the student enrolment,” he said.
The school will be established with the successful Gannoruwa Ranabima Royal College in mind, and it would be administered on the same lines. The school would be open to children from 15 educational zones, and admissions would conducted with an examination just like Gannoruwa Royal College.
The school would be open to children from the Teldeniya Police area, Kundasale Electoral area, Wattegama education area and Digana Rajawella area and children within these areas would be eligible to enter this school, the Governor said. A similar school for boys will also be opened, he said.
