Former Sri Lanka full back Zubair Doray passes away
Former Wesley, CR and FC and Sri Lanka rugby full back Zubair Doray passed away after a brief illness yesterday. One of the finest attacking full backs Sri Lanka has seen, he represented the country in both XVs and 7s.
The rugby community is Sri Lanka is shocked by the sudden demise of Doray who was an outstanding product of Wesley, representing the school in rugby, cricket and hockey. Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) President Rizly Illyas and Council Members expressed their sincere condolences on the passing away of Zubair Deen Doray. “We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Zubair Deen Doray, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends,” SLR secretary Jude Pillai stated. He was mentor of Wesley College rugby team at the time of his death. “Our thoughts and prayers with his beloved family, youngest son, former Wesley College captain, Junior National Tusker and current CR&FC player Murshid, eldest son Muzni, daughter Amira and wife Faiza Zubair,” the SLR statement added.
