Pera Uni. minor staff found to be working for contractors outside of the university
View(s):An Internal Audit check at the home of a senior Executive Officer at the University of Peradeniya has found university labourers working on the roof of the officer’s home, which was renovated recently.
Six or seven of these labourers were alleged to have been working as labourers of the contractor, with or without the knowledge of the Executive Officer.
It was learned that it has been the practice of the university labour force to work in houses and other establishments of the University, during holidays and even on days when they should be working at the University.
Meanwhile, an engineer under interdiction was still living in the university quarters, claiming that he had filed appeal papers for his interdiction and also for his alleged dismissal.
The University of Peradeniya’s Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellor and Registrar were unavailable for comments.
