Trainee teachers given appointments in the Central Province
View(s):A ceremony to present teaching appointments from the Central Province Education Department to national diploma holders in teaching, was held under the patronage of the Central Province Governor at Dharmaraja College in Kandy.
Three hundred and fifty one students who had followed courses at the Colleges of Education in the Sinhala, Tamil and English medium were appointed as teachers. Out of the 351students, 130 students had completed two-year courses in Sinhala, 173 students in Tamil and 48 in English medium.
The Governor said teachers are accountable for transforming today’s students , into people who would be patriotic and full of good attitudes. The Governor also said, after receiving appointments as teachers, they should not apply for transfers as in the near future, citing various reasons.
Central Province Chief Secretary Gamini Rajaratne, Governor’s Secretary Anton Tilakaratne, Central Province Chief Minister Nandana Galaboda and Governor’s Coordinating Secretary Upul Mahindaratne were also present at the event.
