Two-ton Asalanka runs riot
Skipper Charith Asalanka was in awesome form as he made back-to-back tons for Triggs XI in two matches on the second day of the Richmond Champions League T20 Cricket Tournament played at the Galle International Stadium yesterday.
In the first match played in the morning, Asalanka cracked a 66-ball 115 which was the highest individual score of the tournament, slamming 11 boundaries and five sixes to steer his side to a comfortable 65-run win over Samuels XI.
Asalanka followed it up with another knock of 105 in 64 balls that comprised eight boundaries and seven sixes to steer Triggs XI to another victory by 18 runs against Hartleys XI.
The three-day tournament is organised by the Richmond Old Boys Association. Three teams are captained by Charith Asalanka (TriggsXI), Avindu Theekshana (Hartleys XI) and Sithara Gimhan (Samuels XI). They will play each other twice and the top two teams will qualify for the final which is scheduled to be played today.
