Savini Jayasuriya and Ruvi Lewkebandara of Gateway College won the Under-18 Girls and Under-16 Girls Singles championships at the recently concluded “Junior National Tennis Championship 2020” played at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) Courts in Colombo.

In the Under-18 Girls category, Savini Jayasuriya enjoyed an easy passage to the final until she met Oneli Perera. Following a few early setbacks, Savini settled down well to beat Oneli Perera convincingly with impressive scores of 6-1 and 6-0.

Ruvi Lewkebandara had to play up to her full potential to defeat Hasali Gajaba 6-3,6-4 to clinch the Girls Under-16 Singles championship. At the semis, Ruvi lost the first set 4-6 to Denethya but bounced back to win 6-1 and 10-8 in a hard fought battle.
