Launch of MAF song on ‘Healthy Coexistence’
‘We are the world’, ‘Band Aid’ and Sri Lanka’s own ‘This Land belongs to us’ are some of the hit songs reached the top due to various reasons in time to time.
Safe and healthy living in peaceful coexistence as one world community seems to be the current eye opener in the world pandemic situation.
The Moratuwa Arts Forum (MAF) will be officially releasing their long awaited epic global health song ‘One world, One Community’ aimed on safe and healthy living in peaceful coexistence as one world community. The launch will be held for limited invitees on Wednesday, 24th February at the Sebastianite Club House at 6.00pm, with the participation of the singers, MAF members and a limited number of invitees, due to the present situation.
This is a most commendable and timely effort by the music crazy Moratuwa artistes, as a soul stirring trailblazer song in the form of a social responsibility project, to suit the present anxious times. Hitherto, ‘One world, One Community’ is the solitary such western song attempted collectively and in unison by any group of Sri Lankan musicians.
The concept of this song to suit the current state of the world was an idea proposed to MAF by seasoned musician Priya Peiris of Cock-A-doodle-doo fame, who was inspired to compose this during the lock down period last year.
‘This will be one of the biggest musical projects launched in Sri Lankan with the participation of more than fifty professional musicians, singers and music directors. I have to thank all musicians and people, who helped me to bring this project to the surface. It was a team effort’ said Priya Peiris.
Fifty four members of the Moratuwa Arts Forum have come together in a spirit of goodwill and brotherhood and sung this epic song, to convey a strong and passionate message to all mankind, urging everyone to coexist – healthy and happy as ‘One world, One Community.
‘While languishing at home, I thought it timely and fitting to compose a song to be sung collectively by the entire MAF membership to be rendered as a strong global message to humanity’ Priya said.
‘It was not an easy task to get all 54 musicians to do the recording, though it was not done simultaneously. I am grateful to them, as despite their busy schedules and concerns about the pandemic, they extended their cooperation to make my concept a success’ he added
He further emphasised that this is neither a commercial nor Covid related song, but in contrast, a befitting musical effort to foster healthy coexistence by Moratuwa artistes- as a segment of responsible citizens, at this moment of time.
‘This is the only such song attempted by local musicians collectively in connection with the global pandemic’ Peiris added.
The lyrics, music and melody for ‘One world, One Community’ was arranged and directed by Priya, while the music was performed by MAF member Udara Fernando who also overlooked the audio recording. The visuals were handled by Viranjan Perera. Well known professional MAF singers which include several big names in the local showbiz scene along with their youthful blossoming counterparts-and some who are connected from abroad made this effort possible.
The participating singers include Lincolne De Silva of ‘Pink N’Purple’ fame, Chandral Fonseka of ‘Kings’, Sureshni Wanigasuriya, Dr. Manella Joseph, Sunil and Piyal Perera of ‘Gypsies’, Sureni De Mel, Chandanie Silva, Kumar Fernando, Lankika Perera of ‘Golden Chimes’, Priya Peiris, Nalin, Shermila and Sahani Fernando of ‘Nalin and The Star Combination’, Devin and Lucille Pereira, Anuradha Mack, Lucky Deva of ‘Spirit’, Rajiv Sebastian of ‘Rajiv and the Clan’, Shenya Napthalie, Lakmal Peiris, Sarath Goonewardena, Hemaka Fernando, Rolinson Ferdinando, Melantha Perera of Mirage fame, Sumangi Jayaweera, Eranjan and Viranjan Perera, Lilanthi Jayaratne, Sachith Peiris, Ruth De Silva, Tilak Perera, Nihal Fernando, Pradeep Fernando, Sarana Gunaratne, Lakruwani Fernando, Brian Coorey, Erinton Perera, Shiraz Sudar, Pimal Fernando, Ramani Soysa , Sahan and Vindhya Fernando, Geethaka and Stephanie Fonseka, Malathi Perera, Pathum Goonewardene, Frankie Jerome, Sherantha Perera, Roshelle Goonewardene and Nipun Tharumal.
