Handagama returns to theatre with “A Death at an Antique Shop”
View(s):Asoka Handagama, filmmaker known for dealing with daring subject matters has returned to theatre with his latest production ‘Antique Kadeka Maranayak’ or “A Death at an Antique Shop”.
Handagama returns to stage after more than 30 years where he produced award winning “Magatha”. It won the Best Original play award at the State Drama Festival in 1989.
Opening performances of “A Death at an Antique Shop” will be staged at 7 pm on March 19, 20 and 21.
The cast of the play includes some of the most distinguished actors in
Sri Lankan theatre including Saumya Liyanage, veteran theater and cinema actor and the professor of Visual and Performing Art, Pasan Ranaweera, Nipuni Sharadha and Stefan Thirimanna. Music direction is by Chinthaka Jayakody, production designer is Bimal Dushmantha and lighting by Anuruddha Mallavarchchi.
This play will be performed in compliance with government’s COVID – 19 regulations and safety measures. All the seats in the theater are box-planed and tickets sale and the box plan will be opened from March 6 onwards. The special shows are organised by Jude Srimal.
