Nawam Perahera lights up Gangaramaya

The annual Navam Perahera of the Gangaramaya Temple, Colombo took place on Thursday and Friday.

The event, organised under the directions of Chief Incumbent, Gangaramaya Temple, Ven Dr Kirinde Assaji, included a large number of traditional dancers, drummers and elephants.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa placed the casket on the tusker, Migara, on the final day of the Perahera. Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was among those who watched the Perahera on the final day.

Crowds were restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
