2nd Sri Lanka National Under-14 Chess GP begins on March 11
The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) has decided to hold the 2nd Sri Lanka National Under-14 Chess Grand Prix from March 11 to 21 at their headquarters in Nugegoda. This is one of the leading chess events in Sri Lanka for youth chess players in the country where only 12 top players can participate in the round robin system. If a number of players are considerably high, they will change to last year’s system. The CFSL is offering cash awards of Rs 55,000, medals and trophies for the winners.
All games will be broadcast live.
Players under 14 years of age by January 1, 2021 with the following performance are eligible, while CFSL also welcome international players.
All national team players, Top 8 players in the Sri Lanka National Youth (U-13) Chess Championship 2019, Top 3 players of the CFSL Youth (U-14) Championship 2021, Top 3 players in the Sri Lanka National Youth (U-13 Girls) Chess Championship 2019, Top 3 players in the Sri Lanka National Youth (U-11) Chess Championship 2019, champion of the Sri Lanka National Youth (U-11 Girls) Championship 2019, Top 3 players of National Amateur Chess Championship 2019, Top 3 players in Junior National Chess Championship 2019, ten players according to the latest International Rating List below 14 years but above 1,600 and two players with the highest performance from the International Rating Chess Tournaments held so far are among the eligible players for the upcoming competition.
Those who are interested to obtain wild card entries should make a request to CFSL with their FIDE ID, Highest rating achieved ever, and performances to declare. Entries will be allowed after evaluation by CFSL.
