Wesley dominate drawn match at Mt Lavinia
Wesley dominated the drawn Under-19 Inter-School cricket encounter against S. Thomas’ which concluded at Mt. Lavinia yesterday. The highlight of the match was a top knock of 142 made by Wesley opener Sahil Dias on day one, who in the process equaled the highest individual score made by Sri Lanka legend M. Sathavisam way back in the year 1936.
The second day’s play saw S. Thomas’, in reply to Wesley’s formidable score of 317, being bowled out for 129 runs. Thenuka Perera and Semila Liyanage shared six wickets doing the damage.
S. Thomas’ were made to follow on with a deficit of 188 runs to erase and fared better to end the day on 130 for 3.
The match between St. Peter’s and St. Sebastian’s played at Bambalapitiya ended in a tame draw.
