Elevating English language education in the South: Smart classroom training for teachers
View(s):To enhance the teaching of English in the Southern province around 100 English teachers have been selected to be given training in smart class rooms. The inaugural training sessions were held at the Galle District Secretariat Auditorium.
This has been initiated with the patronage by the Plantations Minster Ramesh Pathirana and Education Secretary Kapila Perera, with the participation of Brandix Pvt. Ltd. Director S. Iswaran and Lawrence Vincent.
This programme has been in place for the past year, and seminars have been conducted in different areas. Around 200 schools in the province were covered. This programme has been conducted by the Education Ministry, along with private companies such as Brandix Pvt. Ltd..
The training sessions covered the syllabuses from grade three to grade eight. An application titled ‘Read to me’ was also developed for the training in smart class rooms.
The Education Ministry plans to extend the programme island wide due to its popularity at present. It also hopes to promote the ‘Read to me’ programme and extend training for this programme as well, a spokesperson for the ‘Right to Read’ institution said.
The institution hopes to further promote English education in the country through these initiatives. The video is now available for sale.
