Narrow escape for Ananda
Ananda had a narrow escape against Royal in their Under-19 Inter-School cricket match concluded at Ananda Mawatha yesterday. After declaring on 386 for 6, Royal bowled out Ananda for 88 runs with Dan Yabesh and Prashan Kalhara doing the damage. Kavindu Pathirana hit an unbeaten 100 for Royal.
Following on with a deficit of 298 runs, they managed to escape with a draw thanks to an unbeaten 66 by Saviru Bandara. They finished the day on 169 for 9, frustrating the Royalists who were just one wicket away from an innings victory.
St. Peter’s and Zahira dominated proceedings against Thurstan and St. Benedict’s in the drawn encounters which ended at Thurstan ground and Kotahena.
