Sri Lankan architects who are members of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) together with JAT Holdings Limited will host a presentation titled “Archiving Architecture” by Architect Channa Daswatte, on the ‘Reconstruction of Maestro Geoffrey Bawa’s Legendary Bentota Beach Hotel’. It will be held on Saturday, April 24 at 5:30 pm at the Shangri-La Hotel Colombo. The (RIBA), the parental body of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects, is a professional architects’ body established in 1834, specifically for the advancement of architecture and promotion of the acquisition of knowledge of the arts and sciences under its charter.

RIBA is also the premier educational regulatory body and authority that accredits the education of architecture the world over. In Sri Lanka, three of the four schools of architecture — the Moratuwa University, the City School of Architecture and the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology — are accredited by the RIBA, giving it the desired recognition
and stature.

The RIBA, being an international body, established a branch in Sri Lanka under the name of “RIBA Members: Sri Lanka”. It was inaugurated by RIBA President Jane Duncan on August 3, 2017 at Westminster House, the British High Commissioner’s residence in Colombo 07.

It is pertinent to mention that most of Sri Lanka’s prominent professionals in architecture are members of the RIBA.

RIBA Members Sri Lanka with JAT Holdings Limited will present “Archiving Architecture” by Channa Daswatte, on the Reconstruction of Maestro Geoffrey Bawa’s Legendary Bentota Beach Hotel, on Saturday, April 24 at 5:30 pm at the Shangri-La Hotel Colombo.

This would be followed by a
question and answer session and a
networking cocktail. Due to COVID restrictions, participation for this event has been restricted to 150, the organisers say.
