The 135th Anniversary of Convent of Our Lady of Victories, Moratuwa
View(s):The 135th Anniversary of Convent of Our Lady of Victories, Moratuwa which fell on the 9th of March was celebrated on the 22nd of April following the health measures. The Chief Celebrant of the Thanksgiving Eucharist was Rt. Rev. Dr. Anton Ranjith, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Colombo. Rev. Fr. Gamunu Dias, the General Manager of Catholic Private Schools of the Archdiocese and some priests of the deanery of Moratuwa, concelebrated.
Rev.Sr.Elsie Rodrigo, the Provincial Superior of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary -Sri Lanka, Rev.Sr. Amara Fernando, a Counsellor and a member of the School Committee and many sisters of the congregation were present at the event. Ven. Magalle Anunayake Thero, Ven. Prof. Agalakada Sirisumana Thero and a few distinguished guests also graced this solemn occasion accepting the invitation of the Principal, Rev.Sr. Chamila Fernando.
To mark the 135th anniversary a souvenir was launched during a brief variety entertainment which depicted the history of the school and showcased the talents of the students through a few enchanting performances. A gymnasium and a refurbished security unit were also declared open by Rt. Rev. Dr. Anton Ranjith, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese.
