Sri Lanka’s director of cricket, Tom Moody will travel with the national white-ball team as a consultant coach to England. Sri Lanka will play three T20Is and as many ODIs against England starting from June 23. Sri Lanka hopes Moody’s presence in the dressing room could add value to the young team led by Kusal Janith Perera.

Moody who oversaw Sri Lanka cricket through 2005-2007 was appointed on March 1 this year to oversee Sri Lanka’s international programme and domestic tournaments. His appointment was made on the recommendation of Sri Lanka’s new technical advisory committee headed by Aravinda de Silva.

The role will see Moody spend at least 300 days in Sri Lanka over the next three years focusing on “analysis of the future tour programme, focusing on the domestic tournament structure, player welfare, education and skill development, coaching and support staff structure, high performance, and data analytics”.

During his previous stint with Sri Lanka Cricket, Sri Lanka tasted considerable success in the Test format and became World Cup runners-up. Since then he has been a coach at the IPL, the Caribbean Premier League’s director of cricket and has held several other high-profile positions.
