Online classes should not become a burden to teachers and students: Ed. Ministry

View(s):

The Education Ministry has directed school principals notunnecessarily burden teachers and students while online classes are going on these days.

The move came after complaints were received about students and teachers having to follow unnecessary rules, making it difficult to conduct and engage in the online classes.

Some students were forced to follow online classes late into the night, while certain schools conducted classes without an interval for the students. Some students have also been advised to follow classes in school uniform, the Education Ministry noted.

In a circular issued recently, the Ministry also noted that some teachers too had been advised to be dressed in saree while conducting online classes.

The circular went on to say that students and teachers can be dressed in appropriate clothing during the online classes.

The Ministry also said the principals and vice principals should not pressure students and teachers unnecessarily, as many of them are going through difficult times due to the COVID-19 situation.

Meanwhile the Ministry also noted that some parents were trying to collect funds for teachers conducting online classes.

A senior Ministry official said it was not required to collect such funds as it could be a burden for some parents.
