View(s):Another Trinitian has taken it by storm!! A sound sport personality proved that basic sports psychology enhances academic and leadership performance.
Miranga Subasinghe, is a prominent character among the students who have obtained best (4 As) results at the GCE Advance Level examination 2020, having upheld the glory of his school Trinity College.
Miranga positively contributed in enforcing discipline with dignity and integrity as the Deputy Senior Prefect of the Prefects Guild of Trinity College Kandy. He is an obvious example of leading the way to an all rounded experience for 13 years who took part in multiple sports and various extracurricular activities. He outshined throughout his committed career in rugby and boxing.
Given that he was awarded the H.I Ratnayaka Memorial Scholarship for allround excellence achievements in sports during his latter years in school, he vowed to continue proving his eligibility by working towards balancing both the academic and non-academic sides of his scale. These commitments did not restrict Miranga from contributing to society.
He has been a social activist who promotes, guides and builds connections among groups and communities for common social change by being a hard working asset to the Interact Club of Trinity.
According to Miranga, rugby and boxing has given him life changing experiences to improve such a tactical mindset in order to outcome any challenge under pressure. Further, he stated that time management is a vital factor when student-athletes juggle between sports, academics and personal life.
Having said this, Miranga emphasises that it would not have been possible without the help of his school, teachers and coaches. With the push he got from his coaches and the understanding mindsets of his teachers, he was able to mould himself into someone who is and will always be able to calm a rough sea full of responsibility.
