CSSL Digital Policy Dialogue on National Transformation Through Digital ID

CSSL Digital Policy Dialogue is an initiative of CSSL aimed at catalyzing urgent digital policy discourse to accelerate digital transformation in the country and leverage industry 4.0 opportunity to achieve an inclusive and prosperous Sri Lanka. 2nd edition of CSSL Policy Dialogue “National Transformation through Digital ID” is scheduled to be held as a panel discussion with key government policy makers, domain experts and industry representatives.
Key decision makers Mr. Jayantha De Silva, Secretary Ministry of Technology, Prof. Lalith Gamage, Chairman of ICTA are representing digital sphere and Mr. Viani Gunathillaka,Commissioner General of Department of Registrations of Persons, the mandated authority for issuing identities and collecting data are participating in this important policy dialogue. Mr. Sanjay Jain, Chair Technology Committee, MOSIP ( Modular Open Source Identity Platform) Foundation and Mr. Navin Peiris,Vice President of Dialog Axiata PLCare participating in the panel representing technology sphere.The policy dialogue will be moderated by the prominent media personality and Editor in Chief of Daily Financial Times,Mr. Nisthar Cassim. 2nd CSSL policy dialogue is supported by Dialog Enterprise as the Principal Sponsor
Commenting on the Policy Dialogue initiative, Eng. Damith Hettihewa, President of CSSL said “CSSL Digital Policy Dialogue is an initiative under CONTRIBUTE pillar of CSSL 2021 strategic plan which is aimed at catalyzing urgent digital policy discourse to accelerate digital transformation in the country and leverage industry 4.0 opportunity to achieve an inclusive and prosperous Sri Lanka”.
Hettihewa further said “Our country has been struggling to introduce Unique Digital ID since 1990’s but we have not been able to introduce a Digital ID. This government has priorities the introduction of a Digital ID. As the Professional Association of Digital fraternity we thought it is important that we facilitate a dialogue and deliberations between Professionals and industry stakeholders with policy makers in order to make current endeavors to introduce digital ID becomes successful.”
