Esala Perahera performers and Adhivasi members receive vaccine
Artistes scheduled to perform at the Kandy Esala Perahera in August will not be allowed to leave the Maligawa premises once they come for the perahera rituals until the conclusion of the pageant, even though they would have been administered the COVIDid-19 vaccine.
The vaccine programme was organised by Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela. Devaleartistes and others involved in the perahera are undergoing vaccination at the Maligawa complex. The Diyawadana Nilame believes that by the time the perahera takes place in August, all artistes and those involved would be fully vaccinated.
Artistes from Aluthnuwara Dedimunda Devale are also being vaccinated at the complex as the Aluthnuwara perahera precedes the Kandy Esala Perahera.
The Kap ritual of the four devales is scheduled to be held on August 9, the Kumbal Perahera on August 13, the Randoli Perahera on August 22, and the Day Perahera on August 23.
Meanwhile, members of the Adhivasi community headed by Wanila Attho received the Sinopharm vaccine on Wednesday at the Dalada Maligawa complex.
