‘OLD’ in cinemas now
Hollywood newest supernatural horror film ‘Old’ written, directed, and produced by Indian-American filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan is now being screened at Liberty by Scope Cinemas, Colombo City Center and other theatres around Colombo and outstation.
Inspired by the graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederik Peeters, the film stars Gael García Bernal, Vicky Krieps, Eliza Scanlen, Thomasin McKenzie, Alex Wolff, Abbey Lee, Aaron Pierre, Rufus Sewell, Ken Leung, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Embeth Davidtz, Emun Elliott, and
Kathleen Chalfant.
Born in Mahé, India, and raised in Penn Valley, Pennsylvania Manoj made his directorial debut in 1992 with his first movie Praying with Anger. His second movie was the comedy-drama film Wide Awake (1998). His most well-received films include the supernatural thriller The Sixth Sense (1999), the superhero thriller Unbreakable (2000), and the science fiction thriller Signs (2002). For The Sixth Sense, Shyamalan received nominations for the Academy Award for Best Director and the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
Shyamalan was inspired to do the film after reading the graphic novel ‘Sandcastle’ by Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederik Peeters, a gift his daughter gave him for Father’s Day. He decided to adapt the graphic novel into a film and optioned the rights for the story.
The film is also now being screened at Savoy –Colombo, Vista Lite – Ja Ela, NIT – Kurunegala PVR – Colombo and Majestic Ultra Cinema.
