Rural communities around the country can now make mobile payments with ease
The latest innovation on mobile money by Dialog in partnership with Viber will help the smooth money transfer for the first time in Sri Lanka. This will enable persons to pay utility payments, to make institutional payments, to access easy cash wallet to check balances and a multitude of other transactions in a hassle free method, said Renuka Fernando, Group Digital Services Officer Dialog Axiata Plc speaking at a webinar held in Colombo.
She said Dialog is happy to enter into a partnership with Viber, a global network giant, to help customers to make payments with relative ease in a futuristic initiative for the first time in Sri Lanka.
Viber users can now register with Dialog or with Hatch mobile provider to avail of this opportunity. Dialog which has around 25,000 retailers will be in a position to access rural masses scattered around the country through Viber to make daily payments through a mobile app. Viber can now be used to transfer money to its customers through Easy cash wallet holders for them to receive money instantaneously. Dialog and Viber which has a large number of customers will benefit from this secure method of payments. Dialog Easy cash wallet app will be launched soon to attract a huge labour force working in West Asia, she added.
David Tse, Senior Director –Viber APSE Region said that they hope to bring artificial intelligence to Sri Lanka in the second part of this year. As the pandemic has escalated during the past few years it is safe to use money transactions through Easy Cash payment rather than queueing up at a bank. Viber as a platform has always been secure to ensure security. Viber’s Fin Tech provider offers a fundamental service to its customers.
Padmanath Muthukumarana, Senior Manager Mobile Digital Services Dialog Axita Plc, said the real benefit of this method is to add benefit to the customers. “We want to offer exclusive benefits to customers beginning from next month,” he said. Answering a question, he said that Easy Cash has been in the forefront of businesses especially among the youth in Sri Lanka. The Viber app too has large customers in Sri Lanka and the partnership with Dialog will enhance the business partnership.
Anna Znamenskaya, Chief Growth Officer Viber said that they are working on a scheme to facilitate remittances by expatriates mostly a large number of Sri Lankans working in West Asia and other countries.
