Vice Chancellor Upul B. Dissanayake addresses a few guests at the opening ceremony
A new stadium was recently declared open at the University of Peradeniya. Due to the prevailing COVID situation the ceremony was held with a minimum number of guests.
The total cost of the stadium was Rs. 35 million and construction for it began in 2017. This stadium and its grounds were built for university’s undergraduates and sports students of the Central Province.
University of Peradeniya Vice Chancellor Upul B. Dissanayke declared open the stadium. In his speech, he said the stadium and the grounds are open to all undergraduates and Central Province school students for their sports activities.
The stadium’s seating capacity is around 200 and there are facilities for sportsmen and women.
