Old Boys Union of Kingswood College set up new facilities at their alma mater
View(s):The Kingswood Old Boys Union has geared itself to help students who will be returning to school after the pandemic.
The Old Boys have taken it upon themselves to spend nearly ten million rupees by setting up eight smart board classrooms, an agriculture laboratory, technical tools, a record room, a Tutor’s Development Room (formerly known as staff room in colleges) with computers and laser printers and a set of green rooms.
According to the Union’s Secretary Sampath Somasiri, with the assistance of the College’s Principal Upali Chandrakumar it was possible to complete the targeted development work in time for students who would be returning once the Government decides to reopen schools. He said they have more work planned to develop the school according their five-year plan. A formal ceremony for all these newly added facilities would take place with the reopening of the school, Mr Somasiri said.
The record room would contain all records of students in school and those who have left, he added. He also said they would try to have the records of students who had left previously but this would take some time. The Union’s President Tissa Wijeratne had approved the development project.
