Smart classrooms and computer labs for 200 Galle district schools
View(s):Smart classrooms and computer labs will be constructed in 200 schools in the Galle district with the support of India, a Cabinet spokesperson said recently.
After considering the urgent need of providing children from low income backgrounds with fair access to quality education with the help of modern technology, the Government made this decision, they added.
The initiative thus aims to reduce digital technology gaps between children in the country. The Indian Government has agreed to provide financial assistance with Rs 300 million for constructing smart class rooms and computer labs in 200 schools.
Therefore, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal made by Education Minister Dinesh Gunawardena to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Government to implement high impact community projects to obtain the grant.
