Malaysia and Sri Lanka to enhance cooperation in digitalisation and education

Foreign Minister G. L. Peiris recently expressed the urgent need of broadening the vocational training in

Sri Lanka and said that Malaysia and Sri Lanka can progress in this sector through joint cooperation.

He emphasised the need for building further collaboration in areas that are beneficial to both countries, and commended the progress that Malaysia recorded in the field of digitalisation.

Prof. Peiris said the Sri Lankan Government intends to achieve rapid progress in digitalisation in several key areas in the public sector including administration, court proceedings, education, and health.

Malaysian High Commissioner Tan Yang Thai too expressed his strong desire to re-enact partnerships in several areas, including the restoration of air connectivity to its fullest capacity and facilitation of strong people-to-people interaction between the two countries.

These matters were discussed at a meeting held between the Malaysian High Commissioner and the Foreign Minister on Thursday.
