Rural Industry Promotion State Ministry and J’pura University sign agreement
View(s):An agreement was signed between the State Ministry of Rattan, Brass, Clay, Furniture and Rural Industry Promotion and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura’s Department of Marketing Management last week.
The agreement will facilitate cooperation in the transfer and exchange of knowledge and expertise of the Department of Marketing Management towards achieving the Ministry’s objectives. Marketing promotions is the focus of the Ministry.
The Ministry seeks to promote selected entrepreneurs in the nation to cater to local and international markets with a novel approach, a university official said.
The Ministry’s Secretary and the head of the department were held responsible for implementing the activities that were proposed by the Department of Marketing Management under the agreement.
Rattan, Brass, Pottery, Furniture and Rural Industrial Promotion State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera’s participation was acknowledged at the signing ceremony, together with Ministry Secretary M. A. B. V. Bandaranayake, Additional Secretary A. Lakkathas, Vidatha Director A. F. Arif, and the Ministry’s Development Director U. K. B. L. Priyadarshana. National Craft Council Chairman Sampath Erahapola, also took part in the ceremony.
At the ceremony, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura was represented by Vice Chancellor Sudantha Liyanage, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce Dean P.D. Nimal, Department of Marketing Management Head Amila Jayarathne, project coordinator Asoka Malkanthie, Senior Prof. Neville Warnakulasooriya, Prof. Lalith Chandralal and Dr. Sandamali Galdolage.
All party representatives expressed their satisfaction at the signing of the agreement, and hope to achieve all the objectives of the agreement.
