Medal winners rewarded by CFSL
View(s):The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) rewarded the champions who won medals at the World Youth Chess Championships and the Western Asian Youth Chess Championship held recently.
The medal winners of these two events were rewarded at the opening ceremony of the National Chess Academy of the CFSL last week. The presentation was made Luxman Wijesuriya, the President of CFSL in the presence of its Treasurer, Erosh Jayasinghe.
Oshini Devindya Gunawardena of Ferguson High School, Ratnapura, was rewarded with Rs. 150,000 for winning gold medals at the World Youth Online Chess Champion 2021 and the Western Asian Youth Online Chess Championship 2021. She competed in the Under-10 Girls category at both events.
Harshana Thilakaratne of Maliyadeva College was presented with Rs. 50,000 for winning the gold medal in the Under-18 Open at the Western Asian Online Youth Chess Championship 2021. Susal de Silva of Nalanda College was rewarded with Rs. 30,000 for winning the silver medal of the same category and event.
Esandi Newansa of Dharmasoka College, was presented with Rs. 20,000 for winning the bronze medal of the Under-12 Girls at the Western Asian Online Youth Chess Championship.
In addition coaches Akhila Kavinda and Gihan Kanchana de Silva were also rewarded by the CFSL.
