Himasha and Asela guide Soldiers to fourth win
Himasha Liyanage cracked an unbeaten 55, while putting on an unbroken stand of 69 runs with Asela Gunaratne for the fourth wicket to help Army SC record an easy 7-wicket win against Lankan CC in the Major Club Limited Over Cricket Tournament encounter played at the Army ground in Dombagoda
yesterday.
Lankan CC batted first and were restricted to 128 runs, while the Soldiers raced to the target with ease in the 25th over to record their fourth win from seven matches. Last year’s runners-up, Ragama CC, pulled off a thrilling last ball win against Saracens at Surrey Village ground in Maggona, their first win of the tournament. Last year’s winners NCC, were featured in a thrilling tie against Negombo CC at Katunayake. At Welisara, Navy SC overcame Kandy Customs by 24 runs to record their first win.
Four other games were postponed due to bad weather preventing any possible play.
