Vimukthi, Jury member at 52nd IFFI

International awarded Vimukthi Jayasundara was one of the International Competition jury member of the prestigious International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. The festival was held from November 20 to 28. Vimukthi sat with other IFFI jury members including renowned Iranian filmmaker Rakhshan Banietemad, British film producer Stephen Woolley, Indian producer-director Nila Madhab Panda and Colombian filmmaker Ciro Guerra.
The 52nd IFFI had received 624 films from 95 countries and the festival paid homage to veteran actor Dilip Kumar, and filmmakers Buddhadeb Dasgupta and Sumitra Bhave. This year the IFFI honoured renowned filmmakers Martin Scorsese and Istvan Szabo with Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award. Though two directors who did not participate in person had sent a video messages. The festival was being organised by the Directorate of Film Festivals, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in collaboration with the Goa government. Founded in 1952 IFFI is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia that provides a genuine platform for exchanging ideas between young minds and established figures in film industries from around the world.
