Husband of gas explosion victim to take legal action
The husband of a woman killed in a gas explosion said he is hoping to take legal action against the Government and the Litro gas company.
R.D Sudath Sirimanna said not one politician had even condoled with the family.
“I only see politicians arguing in Parliament over the issue that killed my wife. My four children and I are helpless, yet the government still hasn’t looked into this issue,” he lamented.
Mr Sirimanna a resident of Piduruwella, Dewagiriya is a Samurdhi development officer at the Wilgamuwa Divisional Secretariat. He and his wife Ashoka Priyanagani and children were living in a rented house in the Naranpotha area.
Tragedy struck on December 1 when the gas cooker exploded. He said his wife was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Kandy Hospital but she succumbed to her injuries within 10 days.
“Valuable lives are being lost due to the short sighted policies of the government,” he said.
“I am taking legal action not for the sake of my wife or children. I am taking this action on behalf of the people who may face a similar situation,” he said.
