Labour minister blasts Govt.
View(s):Labour Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva on Tuesday lashed out at his own government saying a cash crisis has affected operations at the ministry.
Speaking at the monthly meeting of the National Labour Advisory Council, the minister, in an angry mood, said the ministry didn’t have enough money to send officials on inspection and work was badly affected due to a shortage of funds, according to several trade unions officials present at the meeting. These officials said at one point the minister used the word ‘bankrupt’. The minister was not independently available for clarification of his views.
Minister de Silva is from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), a coalition partner of the government, which has been critical of the administration for not providing the SLFP its due place in the coalition.
