‘Saho’ wins the ‘Best Asian Feature Film’ in India
Prof. Ariyaratne Athugala’s cinematic venture ‘Saho’ recently won the award for the ‘Best Asian Feature Film’ at the Golden Leaf International Film Awards in India.
Scripted and directed by Prof. Athugala based on the love and struggles of university life, the film is co-produced by Dr. Bandula Gunawardena,
H.D. Premasiri and Ravindra Guruge.
The cast includes Dasun Pathirana, Dinara Punchihewa, Harshi Anjumala, Biyanka Amarasinghe,
Soduru Lokupothagama and Nivarthana Devage.
Behind the scene camera director is Chandana Jayasinghe, editing and sound management-Dilan Gunawardena, assistant director-Sarath Senaratne, production designer-Gayan Madusanka, executive producer-Ileka Ruwanpathirana, costume designer-Lakshitha Jayakody and playback singing is done by Indrachapa Liyanage and Upeka Nirmani.
‘Saho’ won the Best Director, the Best film, the Best Actor, the Best Actress, the Best Editing and the Best Sound at the Robinson Film Awards in Italy. In addition, it is being selected for the second round of the Cannes Film Festival in France. It has already qualified for the finals of the Borden International Film Awards in Sweden.
In addition it has been selected as the official selection of the UK Lift – off Global Networks Film Festival and the official selection of the Belgian BUZZ IFF Networks Film Festival. ‘Saho’ is ready to be released in theatres in Sri Lanka.
