Development officers want teaching appointments

With Government plans to recruit some 22,000 more teachers, the Development Officers Service Union this week held a protest near the Education Ministry in Battaramulla. They demanded that those recruited as Development officers between 2005 and 2017 and those above 35 years should be considered for teaching positions. The Government has planned to provide graduate teaching appointments for those who have completed their degrees in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
