Veteran Actor Robin Fernando passes away
View(s):Veteran actor Robin Fernando has passed away on Saturday (8) at the age of 84 years.
He was an actor, as well as a stunt coordinator in Sri Lankan cinema. He debuted in ‘Chandiya’ by renowned director Titus Thotawatte in 1965, and rose to prominence with lead roles.
Fernando has acted in more than 80 Sinhala films including ‘Hathara Kendare’, ‘Ran Onchilla’, ‘Bindunu Hadawath’, ‘Sagarika’, ‘Sihasuna’, ‘Sikuruliya’, ‘Nivena Ginna’, ‘Bambara Geethaya’.
In 1983 he directed his first film ‘Sura Doothiyo’, which was based on real incidents. His last direction was a Sinhala movie named ‘Ninja-Sri Lanka’.
He also made appearances in a number of teledrama serials starting with Sriyani Amarasena’s ‘Ira Batu Tharuwa’ which was shot in England. Some other television serials of Robin Fernando include, ‘Bogala Sawundiris, ‘Damini’, ‘Sangramaya’, ‘Sekku Gedara’, ‘Urumaya Soya’ and ‘Wansakkarayo’.
