A booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine significantly reduces hospitalization due to Omicron, new research released on Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has found.

The booster doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines were 90% effective at keeping people out of the hospital after they had become infected with Omicron. The doses were also 82% effective at preventing emergency department and urgent care visits, the data had shown.

Another CDC study published in The Journal of the American Medical Association of people who had tested positive had found that those who received three doses of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine were less likely to be symptomatic. In comparison, those who were positive and had only got two vaccine doses were symptomatic.
