Phone allowance slashed for state enterprise bosses
View(s):The Government, in keeping with a budget decision, has from this month slashed the telephone bill allowances of officers in State Owned Enterprises (SOEs).
Accordingly, reimbursement of telephone bills has been reduced by 25 percent for officers in corporations, statutory boards, and government owned companies.
A chairperson or competent authority who was entitled to a maximum telephone bill allowance of Rs 13,000 a month will now be entitled to Rs 9,750, of which Rs 3,750 monthly will be for the official telephone and fax and remaining Rs 6,000 for the residential telephone, private mobile phone and the Internet.
A chief executive officer, managing director, executive director, director General, general manager or an officer in a similar position will be entitled to Rs 3,250 for the official phone and fax and Rs 4,250 for the residential phone, the private mobile phone and the Internet. The previous allocation was Rs 10,000.
Similarly, the chief financial officer, chief operating officer, chief internal auditor and any other officer in similar status will be entitled to Rs 3,000 for the official telephone and fax and Rs 3,750 for the residential phone, the private mobile phone and the Internet, while the previous allocation was Rs 9,000.
