The Sri Lankabhimanya Lakshman Kadirgamar Gold Medal for Excellence was won by I. A. Abeygunawardene of the Faculty of Medicine at the Peradeniya University followed by 11 other gold medals.
I. A. Abeygunawardene was awarded 11 gold medals and even the prestigious Dhabdashaw Dadhabhoy Gold Medal for Medicine was awarded to her.
Until grade five Ms. Abeygunawardene was a student at Hillwood College and then joined the prestigious Kandy Girls High School for her further education. Then she entered the University of Peradeniy’s Faculty of Medicine.
Her parents are also members of the medical profession.
