Denara Institute’s programmes to empower women
View(s):The Denara Training Institute – its name is of Persian origin and refers to “children of heaven and earth”– was established in October 2021 with a vision of training young women of all communities in technical and social skills.
Centrally located in Colombo 5, Denara aims to empower women to be independent and take charge of their lives. A two part programme seeks to impart employable skills and social skills needed to transition the student to an independent adult life. Fathima Aziz, Director, Denara Training Institute, says they are looking forward to launching their training programmes.
Their first programme which coincides with the celebration of International Women’s Day is a cookery demonstration in association with Singer Sri Lanka (PLC) featuring Jovanka Jayaweera of Big Bird Delights on Saturday, March 12 from 3 to 6 p.m. at their premises in Mangala Gardens, Colombo 5.
Denara will charge a nominal fee for the courses they plan to offer which include English language training courses, including Spoken English, Speech and Drama.
