Sri Lanka holds discussions on higher education with Russia
View(s):Sri Lanka has held discussions with a visiting Russian delegation regarding the collaboration and improvement of higher education between the two countries.
The discussion was held between Education Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and a group of Russian higher education delegates early this month.
Sri Lankan Ambassador in Russia Prof. Mrs. Janitha Liyanage and the first secretary of the Russian embassy in this country–Mrs. Anatasia Khokiova–also attended this meeting.
The Russian delegation including vice chancellor for international affairs at the People’s Friendship University of Russia (Lumumba University) Larisa Ivanovna Efrernova and the director of the university’s medical institution Alexey Yurievich Abramov, the dean of the post graduate section of the medical institution Maria Viadimirovna Greenbeng, the chief expert of the students affairs faculty Daria Alekseevna Vasina and the deputy dean of the international affairs faculty Natalla Viadimirovna Poplavskaya were also present.
The chief of the People’s Friendship University of Russia Yastrebov Oleg Alexandrovich and Hannah Halim–chairperson of the company providing assistance for studies in Russia and educational guidance–were also present.
Sri Lanka’s delegation included Education Ministry Secretary Kapila Perera, Education Additional Secretary Senevirathna, University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Sampath Amaratunge and UGC Vice Chairperson Chandana Premakumara Udawatta.
