‘Lankan Link App’ opens a whole new world for Lankans living abroad
Many media platforms were created by various companies and expacts for Sri Lankan communities in Europe, North America and Australia. Most are commercial ventures and services with payment gates with a price for their service.
Australian bases ‘Lankan Link’ is the latest media platform started in August, 2021 targeting the large numbers of Sri Lankans living not only Australia but around the world.

‘Lankan Link app is created for Sri Lankans living all over the world to get all their entertainment needs in one place. Most of the Sri Lankans, though they live overseas, still their cultural and Sri Lankan linkage attracts and want to update with Colombo based television programmes, songs and other and entertainment related events. Lankan Link app is catering for entertainment craving Lankan viewers around the globe’ explained Vishvanath Thenuwara, the coordinator between Sri Lanka and the networks.
‘Lankan Link app features popular Sri Lankan teledramas, Documentaries, Cultural and Travel Programmes, Political and Current Affaires, films, dancing and music.
Created by three Sri Lankans living in Australia- Sanjana Palanagama, Sunny Wijewardana and Chandima Jayaratne, ‘Lankan Link app is a free of charge web and mobile based app operates on Android ad ios. We have covered all entertainment needs including latest Lankan movies, teledramas and exclusive classics, soon to release Music Videos with the ability to cast to TV (or download Android TV app). Partnership with Tissa Nagodavithana Pictures, all Lankan films bring all the classics that we grew up with and as well as new movies released every week, absolutely free and in high definition’ Thanuwara said.
The teledrama ‘Dollar’ produced by Bernie Liyanage and directed by Chandima Jayaneththi is an entire Australian production exclusively created for ‘Lankan Link’. Director, Producer and all actors and actress are Sri Lankans living in Australia. ‘Dollar’ features Bhanuka Manoratne, Indika Donald Alwis, Madu Edirisinghe, Oshada Karunaratne, Paramee Fernando, Sanara Fernando, Shawn Nanayakkara and Shamila Rajapaksa on stellar roles.
‘Wara Mal’, ‘Samugath Wasanthaya’, ‘Miringi Diya’, ‘Kanakok Suda’, ‘Anithya’ are some of the popular teledramas now telecasting, while films ‘Summoning’ directed by Akash Sunethkumara and ‘Bera Handa’ created by Wasantha Kumara are two of the Aussie produced movies for ‘Lankan Link’.‘Apart from Sri Lankan mobile TV app, we have our TV box for the best experience: Connect the TV box to your TV and WiFi to enjoy all your favourite shows in high-definition on your TV.
