Kandy Customs and Sebs win easily
View(s):Kandy Customs and Sebastianites recorded easy wins a day to spare in their SLC Major Club Emerging 3-day Tournament games played yesterday. Kandy Customs defeated Galle CC by 8 wickets at the Galle International Stadium while Sebastianites travelled to Welisara and beat host Navy SC by 6 wickets.
Kandy Customs piled up 309 runs with Sasith Manuranga hitting 116 runs. Galle CC were forced to follow on, after they were skittled out for 90, and they recovered to post 237 runs, leaving Kandy Customs and easy target of 19 runs for victory.
At Welisara, in a low-scoring game, hosts Navy were restricted to 126, as Sebastianites took an advantage of 49 runs with their reply of 175. Navy could only muster 182 runs in their second essay, which gave Sebastianites a target of 134 runs with ample time left. The winners raced to victory, losing four wickets on the way, as Manelkar de Silva stood out with the bat and the ball.
The remaining five matches, however, will be considered as drawn encounters with a day’s play remaining, after the islandwide police curfew forced all games to be called off.
Meanwhile Tamil Union qualified to the final on first innings against Negombo CC.
