Protests gather momentum across the country
View(s):Protests demanding the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and his government are spreading across the country.
Protests are underway in Kandy, Galle, Badulla, Anuradhapura and Bandarawela regions while one is to begin in Matara today.
The protest in Kandy with over 50 participants has been continuing for two days in front of the Kandy Lake and Queen’s Hotel.
The protest in Galle began on Friday with about 100 people. 
“The protest is being held in an area between the Galle Cricket Stadium and the main bus stand. A team of youth had set up two big tents and they are camping in this area,” a protester from Galle said.
The protest in Anuradhapura is continuing at the old bus stand with several tents coming up. Members of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) have been participating in youth-led protests in Bandrawela and Badulla.
