Czech violin virtuoso performs with CMSC
View(s):Czech violin virtuoso Olga Šroubková will perform with the Ensemble of the Chamber Music Society of Colombo (CMSC) directed by Lakshman Joseph de Saram on April 29 at 7.30 p.m. at the Lionel Wendt Theatre. This classical concert is presented by the Delegation of the European Union to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, in association with the CMSC – the first post-COVID concert in Sri Lanka in over two years to host an international soloist.
The programme features the music of Haydn, Bach and Mozart, including the ever-popular Concerto for Two Violins in D minor by Bach and Mozart’s immaculate violin concerto no. 5 in A major.
Performing the second violin part of the Bach Double will be principal 2nd violin of the CMSC, Sulara Nanayakkara.
Olga has made several appearances with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra as guest concertmaster. She makes regular solo appearances with other prominent Czech and Slovak orchestras and has collaborated with leading conductors such as Michael Stern and Julian Rachlin.
Since 2020, Olga has been living in Brussels and regularly performs as guest concertmaster and leading violin with the Belgian National Orchestra and the Antwerp Philharmonic Orchestra, recently collaborating with artists such as Kirill Gerstein and Andrea Bocelli. She is also a regular guest concertmaster of the West-Bohemian Orchestra Mariánské Lázně.
