Tamil Union in box seat after Sudeera’s 7-fer
Left-arm spinner Dilum Sudeera spun a web around the Sebastianites batters, claiming career best figures of 7 for 65 to give Tamil Union a strong chance to win the Major Club Emerging 3-day final being played at the SSC grounds. After Tamil Union were restricted for 254, Sudeera ran through the innings with a brilliant spell of left-arm spin to bowl Sebastianites out for 167.
This gave Tamil Union a healthy first innings lead of 87 runs. At close Tamil Union were 39 for 3, a lead of 126 runs.
Tamil Union’s first innings included a fine half century by Ravindu Fernando (76) and useful contributions from Raveen de Silva, Santhush Gunathilake, Supun Kavinda, Kavindu Pathiratne and Dilum Sudeera. They were regularly troubled by spinner Tharindu Ratnayake who picked 5 for 113.
