One Day football programme in Matale

A one day football coaching camp for boys of the Under-15 age category from Matale schools, organised by Matale Football League was held successfully at the Bernard Aluvihare Stadium recently. A team of experienced and qualified coaches headed by Lt. Col. S. Pathmanadan, the Director of Beddagana Football Complex, conducted the coaching sessions, which was held from 8.00a.m. to 2.00p.m. He was assisted by the coaches attached to Matale Football League, Athula Weerakkody, Udaya Kumar and Mohamed Lafir.
Over 100 players representing Christ Church National School, St. Thomas’ College, Zahira College, Hindu College, Greenwood College, Ismaliya Vidyalaya and Royal English School from the Matale Education Zone attended the coaching camp.
The coaching camp provided practical knowledge on finer points of football and the exercise techniques involved in the game and it was followed by an exhibition football session with group participation. According to the Secretary of Matale Football League, U.L.M. Latheeb, the programme helped young players to develop and improve their skills and techniques under proper guidance of reputed coaches to display their abilities.
