Hiruna, Dhanuja shine in Galle Zone’s big win
Hiruna Mandila and Dhanuja Induwara shone for Galle Zone 1 in their big 164-run win over Hambantota District in the Under 19 Youth League limited over tournament encounter played at the Sooriyawewa Stadium.
Hiruna cracked 93 off 110 balls, inclusive of nine boundaries and three sixes while Dhanuja made 79 with 10 boundaries and two sixes. Hiruana was involved in three valuable partnerships: 103 runs for the second with Dhanuja, 66-run stand followed by for the fourth wicket with Bashana de Silva and 50-runs for the fifth wicket with Hasitha Suranga to help Galle Zone 1 to a formidable 270 for 6. Later Kushan Madusha and Adithya Abeywardena shared six wickets between them to restrict their opponents for 106.
A quick-fire 109 off 68 balls by Hasitha Amarasinghe (8×4, 10×6) paved the way for Matara District to record a comfortable 87-run win over Galle Zone 2 in the match played at the Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara.
In the other matches played saw Gampaha Zone 3, Kalutara Zone 2 and Jaffna District coming out victorious against Gampaha Zone 2, Kalutara Zone 2 and Matale District.
