103rd Blues Battle of the Hills ends in draw
View(s):St. Anthony’s College grabbed major honours in their drawn 103rd Battle of the Blues encounter against Trinirty College concluded at the Asgiriya Cricket Stadium yesterday. Chasing 185 to win, after the Antonians declared their second essay on 104 for 5–a lead of 184, the hosts reached 49 for one at stumps with Pawan Pathiraja unbeaten on 23.
St. Anthony’s hit 288 before they declared for the loss nine wickets with Mohamed Aaqil (86), Lahiru Abeysinghe (73) and Chandimal Herath (61) hitting half tons. Tharana Wimaladharma and Theekshana Ranathunga claimed three wickets each. Trinity, in response, were skittled out for 208 runs with only Ranuda Somarathne scoring 50 runs or more. Chandimal Herath hit an unbeaten 54, his second half ton in the match, before they declared the innings on 105 for 5 in 19 overs.
