S. Thomas’ College batsman Ryan Fernando ran on a record breaking rampage, plundering 252 not out of the team total’s of 420 for eight declared, in their drawn traditional encounter against Isipathana College at Mt. Lavinia, yesterday. During the marathon mauling, Fernando broke the previous records held by Bertie Wijesinghe, hitting a 235 in 1939, and Kumar Sangakkara’s score of 198 runs in 1997. His stay came off 334 balls comprising 25 fours and two sixes. Isipathana were at 145 for five at close.
